LANGSTON ANTHONY HERBERT ROACH (Hon D.Sc)

This book is dedicated to my parents Peter and Veronica Roach.

Mr. Langston A.H. Roach EMBA, (Hon D.Sc) is the owner and founder of Langston Roach Industries Limited.

​

He attended Queen’s Royal College from 1959 to 1965 and entered The University of the West indies in 1966, where he studied Chemical Engineering. In 1970 he left UWI to enter the business world and joined a family business “OPALS”, a manufacturer and retailer of Afro West Indian Clothes and accessories.  In 1998 Mr. Roach earned an Executive Master’s in Business Administration from the UWI, Arthur Lok Jack Global School of Business.

Mr. Roach started Langston Roach Industries at his home in 1985 by producing a few cleaning products that he sold door-to-door. From a modest beginning as a cottage start-up with little capital, Langston Roach Industries Limited has become the largest indigenous manufacturer of Household Cleaners and Personal Care Products in Trinidad and Tobago under brands such as Lanher, Soft & Silky, Nature’s Collection and Smart Choice and exports its products throughout the Caribbean.

 

For his contribution in the field of Entrepreneurship Mr. Roach was admitted by the University of Trinidad and Tobago to the Degree of Doctorate of Science (Honoris Causa) on August 30th, 2022.

 

He was inducted into the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce’s Business Hall of Fame on November 24th, 2022, an honor that was bestowed for a lifetime of achievement in the corporate world, and on November 22nd, 2022 he was a recipient of the Supermarket Association of Trinidad and Tobago Elite Champion of Business Award.

On September 24th 2023, he was awarded the Chaconia Medal (Gold) for his long and meritorious service to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, in the sphere of business and community development.

He was also presented with A Lifetime Achievement Award by Trinidad and Tobago’s Manufacturing Association in 2023 and a U.W.I. Distinguished Alumni Award (November 2023).

​

He is a Co-founder and sponsor of ‘The Veronica Roach Legacy Project- La Canoa Improvement Centre’, a non-profit entity that provides a range of services and activities to the residents of La Canoa, Lower Santa Cruz, free of charge.

 

Today Mr. Langston Roach serves as Executive Chairman and a Director of Langston Roach Industries Limited and Roach Capital Investment Ltd and several others.
